Silverback Contracts · Prenup

Your prenup, read before you sign it.

Most prenups get signed in the last busy weeks before a wedding. They get read for the first time years later, by a judge.

Upload it free. Every page gets read and you see the three problems that would cost you most. Analysis, not legal advice.

What people miss

Three clauses to check before you sign

Growth on separate property

A house or business you bring in may stay yours, but what about its increase in value during the marriage? Check whether the growth is separate or shared.

A support waiver with no floor

A full waiver of spousal support can be enforceable. Look for whether it changes after a set number of years or if one of you leaves work to raise children.

Disclosure that was never attached

A prenup is only as strong as the financial disclosure behind it. Check that both sides' assets, debts and income are listed or attached.

The clock

Timing matters. Some states require days between receiving a prenup and signing it - California requires seven - and a signature in the final days before the wedding invites a challenge.
